Religon argument

The argument I decided to write about was one that I  had with my friend about religon and church. I had to go to church with my family that night and we got into an argument about church and religon and why I go to church. The two positions were mine that church and religon are a good thing and my friends opinion on how its stupid and a waste of time. Starting with my side I feel that church is a good thing; its a good way to lead your life based on the morals of the bible, its a place where everyone is accepted and for me a nice place to spend quality time with my dad and family. First the bible advocates being good to thy neighbor and other people, help those in need and the 10 commandments on who to live your life. Also If you are ever in need of help a church is a good place to go where you will not be shut down or rejected. Appealing to emotions as a place you can go in a time of need. My friend had opposite ideas like church is boring and a waste of time, plus god isnt real so it doesnt matter anyways. Or If there was a god why would all this bad stuff keep happening. Which in a way appeals to logic that if you cant find or see something its probably not there. The tone of the argument was like a debate not loud but we were trying to prove our points to be better. The revealed values of the speakers I would say go back to child hood. I grew up going to church every sunday and going on missions to help out the unfortunate and things like that. My dad etched going to church and helping other in my mind at a young age. And for my friend he never went to church so he was just against it, finding it pointless because he has not really experianced it. Which shows how pople can dislike something they have never tried. I thouht it was a good argument we disagreed on some aspects but were able to agree with some of the other points we came up with. I still feel like church is a good place and if anything else it teaches good morals to live by.
